Final Fantasy XVI Review
The action of Final Fantasy XVI takes place on several time planes. The narrative is non-linear and from the very beginning we jump around different moments in the life of Clive Rosfield. A member of the princely family who is tasked with becoming the protector of the heir to the throne, namely his younger brother named Joshua.
Indeed, in the world of Valisthea, succession is not based on primogeniture as in a typical quasi-medieval world. Young Joshua is expected to take over the reins of power from his father, as he is a Dominant, or a kind of Phoenix power bearer.
New rules of the game
For the first few hours, Final Fantasy XVI leads the player by the hand through linear stages, showing landmark events in the life of Clive and his loved ones. I’ll say frankly that I don’t think any Final Fantasy starts with such a big bump.
Final Fantasy XVI is not a game with a semi-open world like, say, Fifteen; you move to individual locations by selecting the appropriate place on the map. But lovers of long hikes and looking under every stone will not be disappointed.
Combat system
The element of the game that best reflects this is the combat system. If you think Final Fantasy XV was revolutionary and broke the mold based on turn-based team combat, then contact with Sixteen will come as an even bigger shock to you.
Naoki Yoshida had on his team Ryota Suzuki, a Capcom veteran who had his fingers in the Devil May Cry series, among others. And it is he who is responsible in Final Fantasy XVI for the combat system, which makes this game a racial action RPG.
Spectacular and dynamic clashes
Clashes in Final Fantasy XVI are thus very spectacular and dynamic. They are also sometimes chaotic, when visual effects cover most of the screen. Fans of Devil May Cry style slashers will quickly recognize that this is no competition for their favorite games.
The combat system is much more simplistic and relies mostly on hitting two buttons. However, for an action RPG it manages to be very satisfying and is certainly not simplistic.
Main character
The main character Clive Rosfield is the elder son of the ruler of a minor duchy, but it is in the veins of his younger brother Joshua, whom he has sworn to protect, that the blood of the Dominant flows.
The younger brother is supposed to have the power to summon the Eikon of fire, the Phoenix, in the future. Unfortunately, on one unlucky night, before a ritual to begin his path, there is a coup d’état by Imperial aggression.
Summary
Final Fantasy XVI Download PC unquestionably one of the most important installments in the series. The developers have decided to make a lot of changes compared to its predecessors, making it more mature, brutal and impressive, but some of the jRPG pedigree of the series has also been sacrificed.
Certainly the developers deserve a huge round of applause for their courage. After all, Final Fantasy XVI is a breath of fresh air and may convince players who haven’t been exposed to the series before. Ultimately, then, Final Fantasy XVI is a game that simply should be played, if only for the story itself.
