Alan Wake 2 The Lake House Review
Alan Wake 2 The Lake House Download PC is a return to the horror climate of the basic story. This time we take on the role of Federal Bureau of Control agent Kiran Estevez, who we met earlier and was mentioned for the first time in the AWE add on to Control.
Kiran and her team arrive in Cauldron Lake to investigate the situation of the Lake House facility, with which there has been no contact for some time. The facility itself was established at the initiative of Dr. Darling, head of research at FBC. Darling has appointed Jules and Diana Marmont, rising stars in the scientific section of the bureau, to head the facility.
A dark presence at play
As we make our way through Lake House, we learn that things haven’t quite gone the way of the facility’s staff, whose goal was to monitor the nearby lake. A dark presence has struck Lake House and left murderous scenes in its wake.
While inspecting the facility, Estevez comes across strange creatures coming out of paintings and paint, and after some time, he learns that the office kept at the facility, known from the first game, Rudolph Lane, a painter who in the past was under the care of Dr. Emil Hartman.
In terms of the storyline
Alan Wake 2 The Lake House is a real treat for the biggest fans of the universe from Remedy. There is a huge amount of flavor placed here, which perfectly connects their previous games. If we take the gameplay into account, of course, we won’t find anything revealing that we haven’t seen in the basic story.
It’s still the same very good survival horror, where we have to take care of our health, equipment and ammunition. A very nice change is the addition of new types of enemies in the form of paint monsters, which initially act a bit like Mr. X from Resident Evil 2, as we are unable to do anything to them except stun them.
Back to the office
New enemies are, of course, not the only cool change this DLC offers. The office itself is an interesting return to the past, as it is created in the same atmosphere as The Oldest House from Control itself. Each save room in the add-on is a familiar shelter from the main office facility.
There will also be office rooms or open space, as well as scientific sections where various experiments were conducted. Really like the fact that a horror movie was set in such sterile conditions, which we loved so much in Control.
Graphically
The add on looks top-notch, just like the base and previous DLC. This time the developers did not use the same maps, but created something completely new, but familiar to fans of the universe. The same must be said about the sound, the level of which does not drop.
Compared to Night Springs, in Alan Wake 2 The Lake House we feel a much greater feeling of isolation, where every rustle can mean that something is coming after us. As with Night Springs, our heroine has her own song during the fight and at the end of the chapter we will hear a new special song.
Summary
Alan Wake 2 The Lake House add on is another success from Remedy. After the previous quite diverse DLC, we get a full return to the horror climate and it is quite a successful return. The DLC is an interesting and unfortunately brief return to the familiar themes from Control, while mixing mechanics from Alan.
