Third episode of the series entrusted to Ghost Games, Need for Speed Payback Download revealed a bit more at the Electronic Arts E3 2017 conference. It was therefore within the framework of the EA Play that we were able to heat the gum, through a demo of a few minutes which allowed us to see that the game was taken for Fast and Furious. The first impression left by Need for Speed: Payback is that it tends to differentiate radically from its predecessor, Need For Speed (the reboot of 2015). Exit the permanent night swept with rain and return to the long days under the sun of the desert. Fortune Valley, a city strongly inspired by Las Vegas, is the new environment in which the players will have to battle with the local mafia. We are therefore expecting large, bright streets such as the Strip, even if this first demo took us into the hinterland, an arid desert only cut off by a few ribbons of burning asphalt.
For this initial mission, we had to retrieve a very expensive hypercar from the clutches of the underworld. Confined to the back of a truck, a beautiful Swedish is waiting for us: it is the Koenigsegg Regera. The hero embarks in charming company in a Ford Mustang RTR, in order to go hunting. With the car launched at full speed, we get the orders and, immediately, we feel at home. Handiness is very Need For Speed, with a hyper pronged arcade side that puts the driving almost to the same level as a Mario Kart. The stick is not very sensitive, thus greatly facilitating the management of the direction which is within range of the most pataud pilots. Same thing with the grip since the car is glued to the ground, except in the corners where you can send big aggressive slips with more class than Keiichi Tsuchiya (aka The Drift King), all without getting frightened . The game recommends us to abuse the hand brake, a useless artifice so much the gliding is immediate and safe in turn. A cut in the gaps at the entrance of the turn followed by a violent crushing of the mushroom is enough to put the vehicle square in a cloud of white smoke.
One can even send large bursts of nitrous oxide into the engine to accelerate while gliding. In short, no heading with physics, mechanics and forces: here, we have fun. Besides, if the weapons present in the Rivals episode are no longer there, Need for Speed Payback is not reluctant to propose an experiment at the limit of demolition derby when it is necessary to separate from enemies a little too sticky. In the purest tradition of the Burnouts, (remember that Criterion who created this series now takes care of Battlefront 2 for the same editor), the game incites to crumple wings and bumpers shamelessly. A virile thrust will be immediately rewarded with a micro cut scene with many barrels and more explosions than in a JJ.Abrams film. To be sure of arriving at the quota of fireballs even if the pilot has difficulty stamping the 4×4 of the gangsters, the truck that is hunted drops gasoline cans. Enough to get full of the retina with this metal mechoui in full highway.
The ambition of Ghost Games is clear: to propose a game pop-corn chaining the spectacular scenes, even to ignore certain realities nevertheless obvious. Being obliged to send a big blow of NOS at the wheel of a Mustang stuffed with horses so that it is difficult to catch up with a truck, we confess that we have already seen more credible. We also had a very inspired sequence of the first movie Fast & Furious, when our passenger jumps out of our car on the truck of the bandits before hurrying out at the wheel of the Swedish car. The camera then leaves the Ford and its pilot to make us incarnate Michelle Rodriguez of the day, while we move away towards the horizon of the desert in the setting sun in the direction of a cloud of policemen. A new scenario approach that will offer the opportunity to embody three different characters, moving from one to another according to the script. This is a refreshing narrative insofar as we had really not hooked on the characters of the last opus, between the young woman who was preparing our car better than a team of 30 race engineers, and the teenager hardly pubescent who collected the cars overpriced.
Need for Speed: Payback promises to be an entertaining racing game without revolutionizing the recipe. Likewise, the inspiration drawn from the Burnout saga reminds us of the good times spent on this series to fill the stockpiles of the corner breaker. Nevertheless, we still remain on our hunger with regard to the new, very meager for the moment. It will also be necessary to see if he will succeed in captivating the interest of the players along the length. The release of Need for Speed: Payback is scheduled for Nov. 10 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Need for Speed Payback Game
With the new Need for Speed Payback it should now be better. A big step has already been taken by allowing you to play the game offline. There are also day trips in Payback, but there is still a story with cutscenes. This time you see in the video clips but no longer real actors, but normal video game characters – fresh from the developer. Gameplay and cutscenes now blend seamlessly into one another, always offering the same graphics.
Is the story outstanding? Probably not. The protagonist of the racing game is Tyler Morgan. He is a former street racer who was tricked by the criminal organization The House. Now he is thinking of revenge. This is the story of Need for Speed Payback free. The story is superficial and seems to be half-hearted. Already the dialogues and the lack of expression of the characters are more motivating for listening. Although racing games are not known for their deep history, with a little more love and ingenuity, the developers should have been allowed to proceed here. At least tension and drama would have earned fans in the story. Stronger than the story is the gameplay of the new razor. A game of the series Need for Speed is usually easy and beginner friendly. The steering is catchy and direct, clearly different from steering wheel sensitive like Project CARS. With Karacho you drive your Ford Mustang over the road in the desert, by day mind you! Finally by day. You also take turns at high speed, the developers do not take it so seriously with realism, they do not necessarily have to. Need for Speed is not a simulation, but a beginner-friendly racer for a brisk round on the tarmac.
There is not really much to complain about at the controller. With a button, you activate nitro and you get a speed boost, in which even the vision blurred. Heating without end? Undoubtedly, you can do that with Need for Speed Payback. You do not just give gas for fun, but you also have a mission. In a mission, for example, it is necessary to catch up with a truck and secure the Koenigsegg sports car that has been stored there. On the way to your destination, not only the traffic is your enemy, but also opponents in black vehicles who want to stop you. You, the good guys in the shiny Mustang, and you, the bad guys in black BMWs. Some could put it another way, such as: the good Americans against the evil Germans. But we do not want to interprete this as more than necessary. Let’s stay on the street.
However sympathetic the BMW cars may seem to you, you have to switch them off. Rams them, pushes them off, lets them ride on pillars or fly through the air thanks to small hills. Spectacular attacks will show you the game in slow motion. Cars overturn, burst into many parts and burn out immediately. Sparks and crashing sounds are not saved. It’s really fun to look at the different destruction deposits again in peace. It even motivates to eliminate the next opponent in an even more devious way. Hopefully, the developers in the full version of a kind of cinema mode with a compilation of the most spectacular accidents. The lightweight controls, nitro boosts and slow-speed crash inserts are reminiscent of another popular racing game series: Burnout. Even there, such features are part of the daily program. It does not hurt if a series like Need for Speed is inspired by the competition and takes cool elements like the slow motion. This is not completely new, but misses the game but cinematic action.
In single-player mode, you’ll ride in Need for Speed Payback through an open world of play (Open World) with a chic graphics and good foresight. It’s worth taking a snapshot with the photo mode. Unless you have buildings, rocks or mountains in the way, you can even safely leave the road and enjoy off-road rides. For example, you will discover route abbreviations for races, car wrecks and their parts for the production of new sports cars. Although EA offers a certain sense of freedom thanks to the open game world, a video game with the open world principle often lives off how developers fill it with life and activities, and the game often seems a bit empty. The traffic is not very pronounced, there are hardly any people to see and even races / missions, shops and garages are not always within a few seconds. After a few hours, you may often choose the fast travel function to get to the next destination. But actually it’s all about driving in a racing game.
