Cities Skylines Mass Transit Download

In 2015 came out Cities Skylines Mass Transit download, a building and city management game inspired by the famous Sim City franchise, developed by Colossal Order and published by Paradox. Although generally well received by the players, they quickly pointed to serious concerns in the management of traffic and public transport. After a natural disaster-focused DLC, Colossal Order is intent on tackling all the road problems of their game yet again while adding transit options to Mass Transit, the fourth DLC of Cities: Skylines.

One of the paradoxes of this DLC is that the most interesting part for the player, namely the finer management of roads and crossings, is part of the patch accompanying the release of the DLC and made available free of charge to any owner of the game whether or not it buys this DLC. And by taking a look at the patch note accompanying the update, we quickly realize that almost everything is offered via the patch, the DLC being content, for the most part, to add transportation for our cities.

The most interesting novelty of the patch comes from the possibility, for each intersection, to define with a simple click if it will be managed by traffic lights, stops or the principle of priority. For stops, we can place as many as we want and according to the desired configuration, to define in detail the priority channels. The result is successful and it becomes easier to smooth traffic by strategically placing lights and stops. In addition, by selecting a congested section of road, you can see the destination of the vehicles using this route to better inform the player and help him plan his road network at best.

So of course, a poorly designed road network will still be plugging, but this patch is noticeably improving things and gives us all the keys to effectively combat the bottlenecks that have caused more than one virtual mayor to tire of seeing the vehicles heap on one lane three times their lane. Not to mention that the inhabitants of our cities now shun least public transport, thus helping to smooth traffic.

All this is very nice, but what about the DLC? Because yes, so far, we have mainly talked about the free patch. Well we must recognize that compared to the patch, the DLC itself seems very light … Some new means of transport, two new maps and three scenarios. Oh, some hats for Chirper. When the description of a DLC enthusiastically boast of purely cosmetic hats, we can expect more than light content …

No need to prolong the suspense, the answer is yes. The new means of transport are four in number: ferries, monorail, cable cars and airships. Their use is, for the majority, more thematic than really practical, with the exception of the monorail. The explanation is simple, contrary to what the name of the DLC allows us to hope, the transport capacity of these new vehicles is similar to the simple bus with the added bonus of the imperatives and disadvantages of the station. To illustrate this, take the case of dirigible. You must of course place the depot, as for the buses, and then place landing zones, as for the station. These areas (as well as the depot) must then be connected by air routes such as a route, rails or subway tracks. The difference is that these roads are, of course, free, since they are essentially the route to follow for our airships. Once these roads are drawn, it is finally enough to connect them to form a line of zones in zones, as for the train or metro. Your airship will then shuttle and transport users.

So it’s sure it’s bad for your workers to go to the factory aboard an airship rather than by bus or on foot, but in any case it will be convenient to combine with buses unless you place zones landing everywhere to cover the key points of your city. And the airship, casually, it’s slow, suddenly they will limit faster to take a bus, tram or metro story not to be fired for repeated delays. And an airship can only board about thirty passengers, the equivalent of a bus. The ferry works on the same principle, except that it is necessary to follow the waterways to trace the shipping lanes. . When to the cable car, it is about placing two buildings end to end and connect them by the network. Simple, effective, but of the most limited use, even if it still has its charm to pass a river or a cliff to your inhabitants by the cable car. No, the new means of transportation that really makes a difference is the monorail.
