Sonic x Shadow Generations brings together some of the best levels from throughout the history of the Sonic universe, both in 2D as classic Sonic and in 3D as a more contemporary version of many of the character’s escapades we met in the Dreamcast era.

Here we get some of the most iconic levels and as in almost all Sonic games. In the game, both the 2D and 3D versions of Sonic are taken back in time by an unknown black ghostly figure, forcing both to go through the most iconic levels again.

Although the levels retain the style from Generations, they are more tailored to Shadow’s dark character. He himself has a set of skills that sets him apart from his rival, so there’s no question that we’ll be running around as Sonic, but painted black.

And if that wasn’t enough, for defeating each boss we get another set of skills, making the gameplay even more varied. Of course, analogous to the part of the blue hedgehog, we’ll visit mostly well-known to fans locations, which now look better than ever.

In addition to the storyline itself, special challenges await players some involve collecting a certain number of rings in a specific time. Others require, for example, walking the entire stage on a single ring.

Sonic x Shadow Generations also simply pleases the eye and ear. Here, by the way, it’s the Shadow part that deserves attention, because this one shows that it was made from scratch.

Graphically, it performs better than the section of the blue rival, and it looks like it will be even better – just look at the trailer for the upcoming DLC, which will be associated with the release of the third installment of the Sonic movie.
